The British ViewAs one of the few Brits to venture this far I have not been disappointed. Alta is for skiers or so the hooded tops say and this is very true. Being a Europe skier normally, Alta is such a contrast and an immensely enjoyable one at that. It is for true skiers not cafe hoppers or those that like to pose. You can sense that Alta is a no-nonsense get out there and ride kind of place from the moment you get into the parking lot. No frills but the base facilities are excellent. The mountains are more for advanced to expert but there is enough to do for all. I don't want to say too much otherwise Alta will be flooded with more Brits, so keep this to yourselves! |

None BetterStay away. I don't want another person spoiling this mountain. I'm writing this as a tribute only. I've skied Alta for the last thirty five years. There's nothing quite like it. Jackson, Squaw, Whistler, Highlands all have thier own appeal. All difficult, all beautiful. Alta's like Targhee only tougher. Like Jackson with better snow. As difficult as Squaw but prettier. Albion basin for the beginners. There's no nightlife unless you're staying 30 minutes away in the valley. Don't. Go to bed early, get up early. Don't waste your time there. Take your kids and savor it. |

Great MountainAlta is one of, if not the best, mountains I have skied. It has a lot to offer in terms of challenging terrain with small crowds. I also love the fact that snowboarders aren't allowed. Not so much because I don't want snowboarders there but because it thins the crowd even more. In addition to the challenging terrain, Alta offers some easier cruisers which are a nice change of pace. |
